Dr Stephen Jurd

Dr Jurd is a retired addiction psychiatrist who was educated, trained and practised in Sydney, Australia.

He was influential in the development of both the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine within the the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry within the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. 

He was one of the key initiators of Herbert St Clinic, an addiction polyclinic, and Phoenix Unit a Minnesota model rehab. He has published 30 scientific papers. 

In his retirement he volunteers at The Sydney Retreat

Markkus Trew

Markkus Trew is the Director of Therapy and Aftercare at Broadway Lodge, the first 12-Step residential treatment centre in the UK.

He has extensive experience working within treatment centres across North Somerset and in third-tier local drug and alcohol services.

Markkus holds a Diploma in Leadership and Management, is a qualified Counsellor, and is professionally registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

He is also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I

n his role at Broadway Lodge, Markkus is responsible for leading the counselling and support teams both within and beyond the organisation, while also developing innovative therapeutic programmes that are grounded in evidence-based research and clinical practice

Tian Dayton MA, PhD, TEP

Dr. Tian Dayton is a Senior Fellow at The Meadows and Director of the New York Psychodrama Training Institute in New York City.

She is the author of several books, including The Soulful Journey of Recovery, The ACoA Trauma Syndrome, Emotional Sobriety, Forgiving and Moving On, and Trauma and Addiction, as well as numerous other books and articles.

Dr. Dayton has been a nationally recognised keynote speaker for more than twenty years, presenting on a wide range of topics related to relational trauma, psychodrama, and addiction. Her work in psychodrama has been featured in films, television programmes, and documentaries. 

Dr. Dayton holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology, and is a Certified Practitioner of Psychodrama.

She is a Fellow of the American Society of Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy and has received the organisation’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Scholar’s Award, and President’s Award. She also served as Editor-in-Chief of Psychodrama’s professional journal for ten years. 

In recognition of her contributions to the field of addiction and recovery, Dr. Dayton has received the Mona Mansell Award, the Ackerman/Black Award, and the Caron Research Award.

She taught psychodrama at New York University for eight years and is a frequent guest expert on television and radio, appearing on networks and programmes including MSNBC, CNN, CBS, The John Walsh Show, Ricki Lake, Montel, and Geraldo

Dr Piers Henrique PhD

Dr Piers Henriques is an internationally recognised expert and advocate for children of alcohol-dependent parents, championing their needs across the UK and internationally.

Over the years, Dr Henriques’ role within the charity Nacoa has grown significantly.

In 2014, he took on communications responsibilities and played a key role in developing Nacoa’s branding, outreach, and public profile.

He has been instrumental in the organisation’s growth and success across politics, media, the health sector, and wider public awareness initiatives.

On a day-to-day basis, Dr Henriques manages Nacoa’s social media content, policy advocacy, and media engagement, while also representing the organisation and its callers in parliamentary and other affiliated groups.

Alongside this work, he recently retired from part-time teaching at the University of Cambridge, where he served as a College Tutor for six years.

Dr Henriques completed a PhD in English in 2020, specialising in communication and intermedial aesthetics.
